Speaker & Session
Rebecca Al Haider graduated from Fresno State University with a B.A. and M.A. in Linguistics. In 2007, she taught EFL at South East European University in Macedonia, and in 2008 as an English Language Fellow, she taught EFL at Al Azhar University in Egypt. She currently teaches ESL and linguistics full-time at Reedley College and is the Coordinator of Noncredit Programs. Her Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) work includes: Creating a more equitable onboarding experience for ESL students; adapting and authoring Open Educational Resources (OER); and advising the college’s Multicultural Club.
Workshop: The first part of this presentation will cover the concept of Open Educational Resources (OERs), provide tips on adopting, adapting, and authoring OERs, explore gaps in materials available, and discuss concerns in using OER. In the second part of the presentation, participants will work in groups and apply strategies to create a lesson on topics that are relevant to their curriculum using OER materials. |
