Creating Connections While Learning English OnlineSession: English language learners in an online environment seek community and interaction in addition to improving language skills. It is important to intentionally build community and engagement before the class begins, and encourage interaction and language learning through a variety of online activities.
Denise Maduli-Williams teaches English and ESOL online, onground, and hybrid at San Diego Miramar College. She is delighted at what happens at the intersection of technology and education and believes that online spaces can be ones where students learn, create, and build community together. |
In the Age of Zoom: Sparking Motivation Through Digital Badges, FlipGrid and Chrome Tools!Session: This session will explore three technologies that can easily be integrated into the classroom to spark interest and motivation. Participants will receive an introduction to integrating digital badges into curriculum (both in Canvas + Google Classroom), using FlipGrid, and utilizing third-party Chrome tools. Resources will be provided!
Bentley Cavazzi received his M.S. in Education (emphasis in TESOL) from CSU Fullerton in 2017, and is currently adjunct faculty at Saddleback College, NOCE and CSU Fullerton. He also teaches Business English programs and is passionate about gamification and the role of technology in education. |
Just Because You Can, Doesn’t Mean You Should: Using the SAMR Model to Select Educational TechnologySession: This session will introduce the SAMR model to select appropriate educational technology to not just digitize your classroom, but to enhance the learning process. Participants will leave with a clearer process for selecting technology to bring to their classes.
Daniel Rueckert is an assistant professor of TESOL at Cal State Fullerton. He has twenty years experience as a professor and English language instructor. He has published various articles on technology and language learning. |
